Few things to be taken care of:

  • If your child is entitled to this visa under the Family quota, Refugee Family Support, Samoa Quota scheme or Pacific access category, then you should mention your child in your Resident application. You will not be eligible for this visa if the information of your child is left unmentioned in your Resident application.
  • If your child is born after the grant of Resident Visa/ Permanent Resident Visa; and if you are already staying in the country on a Resident Visa/ Permanent Resident Visa, then your Child will automatically be the Citizen of New Zealand. In such a case, it’s not necessary to apply for this visa.
  • On some occasions, New Zealand dependent visas are subject to extra conditions under section 49(1) of the Immigration Act 2009. We call these section 49 conditions. For example, if you are approved the residence under the Skilled Migrant Category, a section 49 condition could be that you must get an offer of skilled employment within 3 months of your arrival in New Zealand.
